This sign is made in the U. It is very heavy canvas material and the printing on it is very thick.
It measures 46" across and 68" high. This sign was created for Standard Oil Company's line of RPM Motor Oil.
RPM Oil was first introduced in 1936. This sign was distributed out to Standard Oil's licensed product distributors. The distributors setup promotions for RPM Motor Oil at Standard oil service stations, and that is where these signs were originally used. They were a very limited production sign.In 1879 Pacific Coast Oil became Pacific West Oil and then Standard oil bought both in 1900 and consolidated which then became Standard Oil in 1906. Anyway, that is where the 1st Choice in the Pacific West came from. The sign should have read the Pacific Northwest.
So, the sign was considered printed wrong and so the promo was stopped. That's why the sign is very limited! This item is in the category "Collectibles\Advertising\Gas & Oil\Merchandise & Memorabilia\Signs".
