MASSIVE Vintage Double Sided English Pub Inn Sign The Woodman by Roger Anderson

  

A rare opportunity to acquire an authentic pub sign that welcomed patrons to the Woodman Pub for generations. It is a large double sided hanging variety and retains its original iron framing and rings for ease of display.

What makes this sign truly rare is the hand painted imagery being unique to each side. One side depicts a proud woodcutter leaning on his axe contemplating his next quarry while the other side shows a hardworking logger using a spade around the base of tree.

The sign was painted by prolific Pub sign painter Roger Anderson of Burton on Trent. This would have been one of his earlier works prior to his Sons joining in the family trade. Condition is what would be expected of a pre-war sign. There is some expected paint loss and patina but this is what makes signs like these so heartwarming and special. This piece is a large sign designed so that it could easily be recognized from afar by weary travelers and locals.
