Blatz Beer Large Double Sided Lighted Outdoor Advertising Sign. Make sure you check out my other auctions! This is a large double sided plastic lighted outdoor advertising sign for Blatz beer. It measures 45.25 wide, just over 39 tall, and about 9 deep.

It is in pretty nice shape with two triangular plastic panels, one on each side. One panel has a couple cracks in it along the left side see photos.

There are no missing pieces of plastic, though, but the plastic is broken through along the vertical line while the horizontal line is an internal crack in the plastic, but not broken through. A past owner taped the backside of this area with duct tape (duh) so you can see the outline of the tape on the front side of the panel. This could easily be removed and replaced with CLEAR tape to make it much less obvious. Or you could glue the broken piece back to the other and avoid the tape altogether.

I had this displayed against a wall with the good side out so you never saw the break, but if you want to display it as a double sided sign, youll need to do some clean up to the crack, but again, that shouldnt be a huge undertaking. The panels are large and include the Blatz name in their script logo. Besides that one area that is cracked, I dont see any other cracks or breaks in either of the two panels. They are a little bit dirty, mostly on the inside, but that, too, should clean off with a little more elbow grease than I provided.

The graphics and paint on the panels are in nice shape. There is some light scuffing to the surfaces of the plastic but again, nothing horrible or that shouldnt rub out. The lighting is working well and really gives this sign a nice look. The metal can is in great shape structurally but is starting to show its age with some surface rust.

This, too, would be easy to repaint to have it look like new. The plastic panels are mounted to a frame that is attached to the can. Each frame looks like it can be raised to give access to the inside for bulb replacements, when necessary. The bottom has two metal mounting brackets, one on each end.

I dont see a manufacturers tag on the sign but the underside does still have its original hanging instructions and what look like the original Underwriters Laboratories and Union Made decals in place, although neither is legible any longer. It looks like a neon border was in place around the sign at one point since the glass insulator stands are still in place, but the neon tubing is long gone. Again, if you wanted to restore it back to original, you could add the tubing and a transformer, but Ill leave that to the new owner!

Although short of perfect, this advertising piece is in very nice shape and displays very well. This will make a great addition to any advertising, brewery, or Blatz beer collection!
