Aafa Early Antique Metal Texaco Restroom Advertising Double Sided Trade Sign

  
ANTIQUE METAL TEXACO REGISTERED RESTROOM ADVERTISING DOUBLE SIDED TRADE SIGN. Up for sale is this wonderful old Texaco sign. In the 1930's Texaco introduced "Registered Restrooms" as part of their sales campaign to attract customers to their stations. We found this information in a book located at. Look on the bottom of Page 68 and on to 69 and you can read up about history just after the Great Depression and how signs like this one came about. We are guessing at the age of this sign to be somewhere in the 1930's. We think this is earlier than the other, green restroom signs, as those appear to be porcelain faced while this one is painted (now rusted) steel. It's old and rusty and has seen a lot of travelers go by but it has a wonderful look to it!!! It's really heavy for its size. It's interesting to say the least! The sign has a some bends and warps to it as you can see in the pictures.

It has holes in it, paint loss, rust, and patina! On the back, it's in rougher shape and has some blue paint on it, almost obscuring the words completely. This is just what you'd expect from an old sign like this! 37.5 inches high by 30 inches wide by 1/16 inch thick.
