1950s Civil Defense Arrow Double sided STEEL Shelter Sign, Cold War CD Authentic

  

This is an original not a reproduction. I believe this sign to be from the 50s era prior to the famous yellow "Fallout Shelter" replacement. Sign measures 21 1/2 inches by 14 1/2 inches with 1/32nd inch thickness. There are scratches and scraps on the sign as you can see zooming in on the photos. However the sign is very reflective and still glossy and you can tell from the reflections.

The sign has been cleaned with soap and water but nothing beyond that. It is probably possible to improve it more with some work. This is a DOUBLE SIDED , you can display it with the arrow facing either way you please. However one side is better looking in my opinion.

This was found with a couple identical signs a few years ago. It was in the basement storage area of a school in Athens Ohio. The building was set to be demolished but a friend of mine noticed them laying on the floor in a dark corner. Deciding to sell it this one from my collection and let someone else add it theirs. The sign is extremely eye catching and would look fantastic in any collection.
